Painful sensations usually occur immediately after injury, which is why the dog bends its paw under itself. After a certain time, the animal will be able to lean a little on the injured limb. Joint edema is a private symptom, but it may not be present in the clinical picture. Instability of the knee joint is usually diagnosed by a veterinarian during an examination. The symptom is a consequence of a complete rupture of the PKK, with a partial one this sign does not appear. The sound of a click when the joint moves –it can be used to determine the instability of the knee joint and identify damage to the menisci. The most obvious sign of rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament is lameness. It manifests itself with varying degrees of intensity. It all depends on how damaged the meniscus is. Severe lameness occurs in a dog for 5 to 14 days from the moment of injury. Then it may stop, and then bother the pet again after 3-4 weeks. At such moments, the animal cannot fully step on the paw, it only relies on the fingers of the limb. As a result, hip muscle hypotrophy. The main way to diagnose the disease is palpation. You should not do this yourself, you can harm your pet and cause pain. It is better to contact a veterinarian right away. During palpation, the doctor will be able to identify a pathological displacement of the tibial plateau forward. Important! In puppies under the age of 9 months, displacement of the tibial plateau may be the norm. Next, the veterinarian takes an X-ray of the pet to determine the cranial mixing of the tibial plateau and other disorders caused by the injury.
