Otodectosis in cats

When choosing a drug for ear mites, you should pay attention to its effectiveness, safety and ease of use. Many people use ear drops for treatment, but due to the fact that ticks tend to move from the ear canal to other parts of the animal's body and back, they will have no effect, only a relapse. A good, experienced veterinarian will prescribe drops on the withers. For the treatment of uncomplicated otodectosis, some drugs can be used together.

If the disease has passed into a chronic stage, it is necessary to perform a CT scan, because in such cases, damage to the vestibular apparatus occurs. This examination allows you to identify all the lesions of the animal's body. When a cat is suffering from severe itching and it is scratching its ears, you can use a special collar. In this situation, the veterinarian prescribes painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs. If the disease is severe, treatment may take several months. Otodectosis is not such a harmless disease, as it can lead to very serious complications. Therefore, in order to protect your beloved cat from suffering, the owner must follow several rules for caring for the animal. Regularly inspect the ears and carry out antiparasitic treatments, carry out wet cleaning in the room, change the bedding of the animal more often, do not forget a preventive visit to the veterinary clinic.
